# Find Crabwise items in Spotlight

Search for Crabwise items in Spotlight on your Mac and open them from the results. Click a result and Crabwise shows the item.

Items are added to Spotlight while a library is open in Crabwise. Items in the Trash don't appear in Spotlight.

## Choose what Spotlight includes

1. Choose :ui[Crabwise] > :ui[Settings…] and open :ui[Spotlight].
2. Turn on :ui[Include Crabwise items in Spotlight]. It is on by default.
3. Under :ui[Include], choose what can be searched: :ui[Names and tags], :ui[Notes], or :ui[Article text]. :ui[Article text] is off by default.
4. Under :ui[Libraries], your recent libraries are listed. Turn on only the ones you want in Spotlight.

## Rebuild or remove the Spotlight data

If results look wrong, click :ui[Rebuild Spotlight Index]. To remove all Crabwise items from Spotlight, click :ui[Remove from Spotlight].

If you turn the setting off, items already in Spotlight stay until you rebuild or remove them.
