Add the page you're viewing to Crabwise with the button in Safari's toolbar or from the macOS Share menu. You can add pages even when Crabwise isn't running. What you add is brought in the next time Crabwise opens.

## Add from Safari

First, turn on the Safari extension.

1. In Safari, choose :ui[Safari] > :ui[Settings…] and open :ui[Extensions].
2. Turn on :ui[Crabwise].

Then, with the page you want to add open:

1. Click Crabwise's :ui[Add to Crabwise] button in Safari's toolbar. A popup appears.
2. Choose :ui[Save Web Page]. To add the page as an image instead, choose :ui[Selected Portion], :ui[Visible Portion], or :ui[Entire Page] under :ui[Screenshot].
3. For a web page, check :ui[Thumbnail:] and :ui[Save Reader Article], then click :ui[Add]. :ui[Added.] appears.

If Safari hasn't been allowed to access the page, the popup says "Crabwise cannot read this tab. Allow this extension to access this website in browser settings." Go to :ui[Safari] > :ui[Settings…] > :ui[Extensions] and select :ui[Crabwise]. For each website, you can set access to Ask, Allow, or Deny. You can also click Crabwise's toolbar button in Safari and allow the website for 24 hours or always.

## Add from the Share menu

For Crabwise to appear in the Share menu, its sharing extension must be turned on in System Settings. See [Crabwise doesn't appear in the Share menu](https://soji.dev/en/crabwise/support/troubleshooting/share-menu-missing.md).

1. Open the page you want to add in Safari or another app.
2. Click the Share button in Safari's toolbar, or choose :ui[File] > :ui[Share…], and then choose :ui[Crabwise].
3. In the sheet, check the library it will be added to and click :ui[Add].

From the Share menu you can add a web page address or a video file. Images and PDFs can't be added this way. [Drag them into the window](https://soji.dev/en/crabwise/support/saving/add-files-and-notes.md) instead.
