Crabwise Privacy Policy

Soji Takahashi (the developer) handles user information in Crabwise for macOS as described in this privacy policy.

Data collection

Crabwise does not send your library contents or app usage information to the developer. No account is required. Crabwise does not display ads, track you for advertising purposes, or sell personal information.

Data storage

Images, PDFs, web links, collections, tags, and notes are stored in the library folder you choose. Search data and app settings are stored on your Mac. The developer does not access your library contents.

If you store your library in iCloud Drive or another cloud storage service, the service’s syncing and data handling practices apply. Please review the privacy policy of your chosen service.

Screenshots and Apple Intelligence

Screenshots are taken at your request, with macOS screen recording permission, and saved to your open library. Captured images are not sent to the developer.

Apple Intelligence processes collection and tag suggestions on your Mac. Your materials and tag information are not sent off your Mac for classification.

Accessing websites

When you add or preview a web link, or save a web page, Crabwise accesses the specified website to retrieve its title, images, and page content. Adding links through a browser extension works the same way.

As with regular web browsing, the website receives information such as your IP address and browser details. Each website’s privacy policy governs how it handles that information.

Information handled by Apple

Depending on your macOS analytics sharing settings, diagnostic information may be sent to Apple, and the developer may be able to view anonymized, aggregated information. Crabwise does not independently collect or send diagnostic information.

Apple’s Privacy Policy applies to information Apple handles through the App Store and macOS.
