The item list has four view modes: Grid, Masonry, Justified, and List. For libraries with many images, the modes that keep each image’s proportions work well.

Switch the view mode

Choose a mode with View Mode in the toolbar, or from the View menu.

Change the sort order and thumbnail size

Choose the sort order with Sort By in the toolbar: Name, Date Added, Date Modified, Kind, Rating, or Random. Then choose Ascending or Descending.

Adjust the thumbnail size with the slider in the toolbar. You can also choose Small, Medium, or Large from View > Thumbnail Size. In List, the thumbnail size can’t be changed. In the toolbar, the List button is named Table.

Look at an item closely

Select an item and press the Space bar, or choose View > Quick Look, to see it in the standard Mac Quick Look. Double-click an item to open a preview inside Crabwise. In the preview, the left and right arrow keys move to the previous and next items.

To give the list more room, use View > Hide Sidebar and Hide Inspector.
