A reader article can't be saved
Updated:
This article explains what to do if “Couldn’t save the reader article.” appears after you add a web link. The web link itself was added. Only the article text wasn’t saved. When you add a link in the Crabwise window, a warning sheet says “The link was added without it.” In Quick Capture, the same message appears in a notification.
Some pages don’t work with Reader and can’t be saved. The message tells you why.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Article extraction is not available. | The article text can’t be pulled out of this page. |
| No article content was found on this page. | The page isn’t an article. |
| The article could not be extracted. | The text couldn’t be pulled out. |
Option 1
Save it again later
Open the web link, open Reader Actions in the bar at the top, and choose Save Reader Article. If the page didn’t load, connect to the network and try again.
Option 2
Open it as a web page
For a page Reader can’t show, turn off Reader in the bar at the top to open it as a web page. While you’re online, you can read it that way.
Option 3
Refresh the article
If a saved article is out of date, choose Reader Actions > Refresh Reader Article.
A reader article can be saved only for a web link. It can’t be saved for an image, PDF, or note.
If it still doesn’t work, include the page’s address and the message you saw when you contact us.
