Add a web link

On this page
Add a web page URL to your library. When you add it, you choose how the thumbnail is made and whether to save the article text.
Add a URL
- Choose File > Add > Web Page. A popover for the URL appears.
- In URL, enter an address that starts with https://.
- Next to Thumbnail:, choose OG Image or Screenshot. OG Image uses the image the page provides. If the page has none, a screenshot is used. Screenshot uses a picture of the page.
- To save the article text too, turn on Save Reader Article. Once saved, you can read it in Reader without a network connection.
- Click Add. The item is added to your library.
Your choices for Thumbnail: and Save Reader Article carry over to the next time you add a link. By default, OG Image is selected and Save Reader Article is on.
When one collection or tag is selected in the sidebar, the item goes into it. When you have All, Uncategorized, a smart collection, or similar selected, the item doesn’t go into any collection or tag, and it appears in Uncategorized.
If the link can’t be added
If the address isn’t valid, a message appears below the field. If you see Enter a complete URL, including its scheme., enter the address again starting with https://.
A link can be added even when its thumbnail or reader article can’t be saved. Crabwise keeps retrying the thumbnail on its own. See A web link’s thumbnail doesn’t appear for thumbnails and A reader article can’t be saved for articles.
