You can’t place or move furniture, windows, or doors manually. Rooms are rectangular and aligned with the drawing’s axes.

Choose furniture through the room kind

The room kind determines the furniture. Living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms have furniture for their kind; Other rooms have a potted plant. Furniture that doesn’t fit in a small room isn’t placed. For differences between kinds, see Change a room’s name and kind. In actual-size rooms, turn off the Furniture switch to hide furniture.

Position doors by moving rooms

When rooms share an edge for at least 1 m, a 0.9 m-wide doorway appears at the center of that shared section. Moving rooms to change where they meet also changes the doorway’s location. You can’t adjust the opening’s width or position directly.

Understand where windows appear

A window appears in the center of a wall section when at least 2.2 m of that section doesn’t touch another room. Windows are up to 1.4 m wide. Windows may be absent in rooms with short walls or on walls with many sections touching other rooms.

Build with rectangular rooms

Rooms are rectangular. You can’t create L-shaped rooms or diagonal walls. To approximate an L-shaped floor plan, place two rectangular rooms beside each other.
